Clean & dry
Remove grease and dust with a compatible cleaner. Let the surface dry completely.
Install peel-and-stick wall tiles on a smooth, clean, dry and firmly attached surface. Follow the six steps below, or explore a backing-board method for uneven existing tiles.

Each sheet has two rows of vertical tiles. Keep the middle grout line aligned from one sheet to the next.
Remove grease and dust with a compatible cleaner. Let the surface dry completely.
Plan the layout, then mark a level guideline for the top of your first sheet.
Peel back a corner of the backing paper. Align the sheet with the level line, then remove the rest of the paper as you press it onto the wall.
Add the next sheet beside the first. Align the middle grout line and follow the tile joining instructions.
Repeat complete two-row sheets across the wall. Measure and trim only where needed at the edges.
Check that all edges and joins are firmly pressed down. Let the adhesive set as directed, then enjoy your finished kitchen.
You’ll need: a level, pencil, tape measure, compatible cleaner, cloth, cutting mat and recommended cutting tool.
Switch off power and verify it is off before working around outlets.

Smooth, clean, dry and firmly attached? You’re ready to check adhesive compatibility. Loose paint or dust? Prepare the wall first.
Smooth, clean, dry and firmly attached. Paint must be fully cured.
Prepare the wall, then use a suitable flat backing board.
*Check compatibility with your tile adhesive and test a hidden area first.
Uneven but firmly attached tiles? A smooth backing board can provide a flat surface. Peeling paint, powder or dampness? Repair the wall first. Here’s what to look for when preparing a backing-board installation.

Choose a smooth white foam PVC sheet suitable for your installation. A 3 mm sheet, 24 × 36 in (about 61 × 91 cm), is one size option to cut to fit.
Choose foam PVC rather than paper-faced craft foam or coarse polystyrene. Confirm the required thickness, panel support and adhesive compatibility before installation.

Select a clear construction adhesive compatible with your panel and fixing system. Gorilla Max Strength Construction Adhesive, Clear is a product to check against these requirements.
Check compatibility with the board, tape and wall. Follow the adhesive instructions for coverage, support and curing.
A tape measure, pencil, straightedge, suitable cutting tool, protective cutting surface and adhesive applicator.
If using a tape barrier, choose one that is compatible with the wall, panel adhesive and total installed weight. Ordinary decorating tape is not a substitute for a suitable load-bearing fixing system.
Follow these four steps: cut the board, apply the tiles, prepare the fixing, then mount the finished panel.

Measure your backsplash. Cut the board and dry-fit it, including any outlet openings.
Lay the panel flat. Apply the sheets and align both rows and the grout lines.
For a compatible tape-barrier system, apply the tape to the prepared tiles, then apply construction adhesive as specified by the fixing manufacturer.
Position the finished panel. Follow the fixing instructions for pressure, support and curing time.
Yes—if the existing tiles are smooth, clean, dry, firmly attached and compatible with the new tile adhesive. Raised tile edges and deep grout lines may need a suitable flat backing surface before installation.
Do not apply peel-and-stick tiles directly to loose paint, powdery surfaces or pronounced wall texture. Repair loose or damp surfaces first. A suitable backing board can provide a flat surface over sound uneven tiles, but it does not make a weak wall secure.
Smooth white foam PVC can provide a flat backing surface when it is compatible with the tiles, wall and fixing system. A 3 mm, 24 × 36 inch sheet is one size option. Choose the required thickness and support for your installation, then cut the panel to fit.
Choose a construction adhesive and fixing system rated for your panel, wall surface and combined panel-and-tile weight. If adding a tape barrier, confirm that the tape and adhesive work together for the intended load. Follow the manufacturers’ requirements for coverage, pressure, support and curing.
Follow the curing time specified by the tile and fixing manufacturers before exposing the installation to use or moisture. Fresh paint must be fully cured before tiles or fixings are applied. Paint and adhesive curing times vary by product and conditions.
Measure and cut outlet openings before mounting, and cut each side of a corner separately unless the tile instructions allow folding. Switch off the circuit and verify it is off before working near outlets. Use a qualified electrician if the added thickness requires an electrical-box adjustment.
Only when the tile manufacturer approves the specific location and installation conditions. For a backing-board installation, the board and fixings must also be rated for the location. Foam PVC is not a heat shield. Do not use an unapproved system in direct-heat areas or wet shower zones.
Removal can lift paint or leave adhesive residue; this guide does not guarantee damage-free removal. Results depend on the wall finish, adhesive and removal method. A panel fixed with construction adhesive has different removal requirements from a directly applied tile sheet. Follow the relevant manufacturers’ instructions.
